Introduced as a replacement for the 458, the 488 GTB marks the return to classic Ferrari model designations. The 488 indicates the engine’s unitary displacement, while the GTB stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta. In addition to the standard 488 coupe, there is a retractable-hardtop Spider and coupe-only Pista model that takes performance to the ultimate level. As Ferrari’s first turbocharged mid-engine supercar, the 488 is powered by a turbo 3.9-liter V8 that had a robust output of 660 horsepower (670 cv) at 8,000 rpm and a response time to the accelerator of just 0.8 seconds (at 2,000 rpm in third gear).
